With the arrival spring, many people begin a yearly cleaning ritual - clearing out closets, de-cluttering the house, and even straightening up the yard. Surprisingly, you can put this timely practice to work for you on another level - to ensure there is room in your life for love.

Make Room in Your Closet

The natural place to start is by making room in your closet, medicine cabinet, or nightstand. You might ask - "Why do I need to have empty space - theres no love in my life right now?" The answer is this is a symbolic gesture. To clear a space in the nightstand on the other side of the bed, anticipates that there will be someone there soon. Boy, everyone is busy! Its hard to get everything done in one day. Between work, errands, volunteering, exercise, shopping, life can be an endless stream of things to do. So how do you make the time for dating?

Following through on your commitments is a great way to honor yourself and validate the importance of your dating journey. Treat yourself well and keep your appointments with destiny - you never know how you may be rewarded for your efforts or whom you may meet.

Case in point. I went to meet a friend for drinks one night and was angered to discover she had invited six other women I did not know to join us. As it turns out, one woman took a liking to me and introduced me to her brother Paul, who is now my husband. Since you never know how things will turn out, you might as well go out. The more you put yourself in the position to meet people, the more comfortable youll be and the better your chances for meeting the loving partner you deserve.

Anyone holding a torch for a past love? Its human nature to hope that youll get back together with an old flame. Unfortunately, this tendency doesnt really serve you. When you hope for the return of an old relationship, that person actually takes up space in your heart, often making you unavailable. Nature abhors a vacuum, which means the Universe cant wait to fill a void or empty space. Create a clear space in your heart and give nature a chance to work its incredible magic.

Here a few easy methods to free up your heart:

1. Write a letter that says goodbye to an old flame. No need to mail it. Instead you can burn it, cut it up, burry it or all three!
2. Take a bath sprinkled with baking soda and sea salt, a healing mixture known for drawing out toxins. While the water and minerals purify you, release feelings for an old love into the water and watch it wash down the drain.
3. Visualize your heart and all the psychic strings that connect you with an old love. One by one detach these strings to free up your heart. You can imagine cutting the strings, pulling them loose, burning them away, etc. Once complete, imagine all the contact points being healed, leaving you whole and balanced. Say a prayer of thanks for your regained freedom.
